Pregnancy is a beginning of new life within the womb of mother. When sperm of male fertilizes egg of female through fertilization that is when a new life starts to develop. After fertilization of egg embryo is formed.  Within hours of fertilization this embryo undergoes many divisions. As soon as embryo forms within body of female, she starts to develop many symptoms. Now the body of mother is experiencing many hormonal, psychological and physiological changes.

Although in the beginning of pregnancy these changes are mild except few one but still they are identifiable. It is very important to go for proper checkup and have pregnancy test to detect it but still there are some signs and symptoms which are helpful in detecting early pregnancy.

1.   Missed period

Although it is considered to be first indication of pregnancy but it is not necessary that missed period are always because of pregnancy. Sometimes women may have other issues due to which she misses her periods. These factors include stress, dieting, workout or hormonal changes.

2.    Nausea/ Vomiting

In most of women vomiting and nausea happen in first trimester. But in some cases women continue to feel nausea and vomiting throughout their pregnancy. Some times nausea leads to vomiting but not every time. Women should take more water and fluid so that it does not cause dehydration. But if severe vomiting occurs then consult a doctor.

3.    Fatigue

Fatigue and dizziness are among common symptoms of pregnancy. Women feel fatigued and tired all the time. This is because after conception body release progesterone hormone. This hormone helps to sustain the fetus. In other hand it also slows down the metabolic process of digestive system resulting in body fatigue. It can also be caused by iron deficiency.

4.    Increase urination

Increase need to pee is very early sign to detect pregnancy. It is because body generates more fluid and as fetus grows it gets attach to placenta. It puts pressure on bladder. This change occurs during 2-3 week of pregnancy and remains throughout pregnancy. In last trimester when size of fetus increases it exerts more pressure on bladder so the need to pee also increases.

5.    Tender / swollen breast or breast changes

Tender, swollen and other breast changes are among early symptoms of pregnancy that occur after 3-4 days of conception. This firmness is same as it occurs before periods. The tingling and firmness occurs during this period. The areola- dark skin circulating around the nipple also darkens. Veins in this area become more visible as blood circulation in this area increases. Size of breast also increases during pregnancy.

6.    Backache

Backache and body ache are early signs and symptoms of pregnancy. As the size of fetus increases it affects muscles. As a result walking, sitting, lying and standing postures changes to support increasing weight of fetus and it also causes backache.in some cases there is pain in ribs as well in last trimester. If pain increases with consultation of doctor women may take pain killer.

7.    Cramping

In some cases cramping and pain in lower abdomen are also symptoms of pregnancy. There is sharp pain or cramp in lower abdomen similar to that of menstruation. This is because of increasing rate of fetus related hormones in body and change in size of uterus. They usually last for 3-4 days before disappearing. If cramping and pain is severe then consult doctor as there may be some other complications related to pregnancy.

8.    Bloating

Bloating is also very early symptom of pregnancy. It is caused by increased level of progestrone in blood resulting in slow down of digestive process. It produces gas in stomach of pregnant woman resulting in bloating and fullness. This sense of fullness and bloating can be considered as symptoms of pregnancy.

9.    Acute sense of smelling

Acute sense of smell develops in pregnant women.  This is also due to hormonal changes. Pregnant women become very sensitive towards smell. Most of the times they start to feel nausea in the cooking areas or they may start to feel nausea around those smells which are previously they like. Some time there is just nausea and antipathy but at times it leads to vomiting as well towards certain odors.

10 .Food aversion and cravings

Food craving is very common sign and symptom of pregnancy. Pregnant women have strange cravings for eating some times of such things they do not like previously. During early period of pregnancy they like to eat sour food but it is not necessary that all women start to like sour, some of them may develop more likeness towards sweets, chocolates and desserts. Food aversion and change in appetite are symptoms of pregnancy.  At times they do not like those foods which were their favorite previously.
